Tips to Keep In Mind During the Challenge
  1. Program the Challenge WODs During Regular Class Times - Programming the workouts as your Monday WOD/Metcon and then offer a makeup day on Saturday works really well. Encourage your competitive athletes to record their workouts for a chance to win performance prizes. Lastly, be sure to go over OUR movement standards with your athletes. Some of our movement standards may vary from what you normally enforce at your box.
  2. Set Up Times to Take Measurements and Weigh Ins - You can designate time at either the beginning or end of your class, or set up a separate events on the Saturdays before the Challenge starts and ends. And use the printable tracking sheet to record the results. Remember, your athletes are responsible for entering in their results - you're only responsible for validating that they're accurate.
  3. Highs & Lows - Encourage your athletes to share their Challenge experiences and their successes and/or failures - no matter how large or small. Vulnerability and transparency is just as powerful and motivating as success stories, and can help foster a supportive community for your box. This is also a great way for you to keep your athletes on track, engaged, and more likely to finish the Challenge stronger.
  4. Pot Lucks & Parties - Try setting a date during week 1 or 2 of the Challenge and have everyone sign up to bring one of their favorite “Challenge Approved” dishes, sides, snacks, or desserts. This not only fun, but it also gives your athletes a chance to try some new recipes that they can incorporate into their meal plans. You can also schedule a post-Challenge celebration, again with healthy food options but maybe you also bring some treats. You can even turn the pot luck into a cooking competition with awards going to the best dishes in each category.
  5. Use the Validator Resources
    • Items to Validate – The system will remind you when you have items to validate, but you can also use it to see who has or hasn’t entered specific requirements yet.
    • Team Roster/Stats & Email Feature – You can see how your athletes are doing and you can use this info to have individual conversations to help keep everyone on track.
    • Team Report – You can see a summary report with your team's rankings, trends, and stats at any time during the Challenge.
  6. Encourage athletes to READ - The site is full on amazing info and instructions. The best advice you can give to your athletes is to read, search the site, and use the food search. This not only lessens your workload, but it also helps your athletes see better overall results.
  7. Encourage Your Athletes to Invite a Friend - Have your athletes invite family members, co-workers, or friends to join the Challenge or to at least come to the gym to try the Challenge workouts. This will allow them experience the special community that your box has.
